A week at USCRI El Salvador

In November, USCRI staff visited regional offices in El Salvador with the objective of meeting with relevant national actors working towards the advancement of returned migrant rights. Authorities, institutions, and organizations met with include: 

 

  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador
  • Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador
  • Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of El Salvador
  • Organization for Migration (IOM) El Salvador
  • National Institute for Professional Training (INSAFORP)
  • The Municipal Committee for the Prevention of Violence of Usulután
  • Mayor’s Office of East Usulután
  • University of El Salvador, the Francisco Gavidia University and the Technological Institute of Chalatenango
  • Center for the Development of Micro and Small Businesses in the Department of Chalatenango
  • Women’s Training Center in Tejutla
  • Integration Center for Migrants and Working People (CIMITRA)
  • International Rescue Committee (IRC)
  • Centro de Formación Profesional-Agape El Salvador

Regional Director Adrian Melendez and Director of International Programs Taylor McNaboe also had the opportunity to gain first-hand insights into the stories of young participants of the REDii program, which provides training and labor market insertion services.
